That potato book

It’s actually the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and was enjoyed by all members of ChickLit.

Josi hosted and what a spread:

b1The refreshments had a nautical theme (we were on an island of course) – fantastic food!

b2I’m so going to try endive/chicory/witloof myself!

b3We talked about the book: interesting format, characters we liked, surprises (or not!) along the way, the humour, the war and what we learnt from this narrative. One theme we all identified with is the role of books and reading in people’s lives: how it changes you, saves you (from drink, insanity, boredom, etc.), how you thrill at meeting a kindred spirit (who liked the same books) and gobble up a good book.

b4Then we talked about some other important subjects like … food, wine, travelling, culture shock, cheese making and

b5potato pie without the peels!
